A blazing and hilarious work of contemporary political theatre about the Sheffield Street Trees controversy
What happens when you are declared a terrorist for hugging a tree? How do you respond when the government suppresses your basic right to protest? And how do you survive climate catastrophe if you can’t defend the street outside your front door?
Spectacularly bold and ambitious, TREEFXXXERS tells the story of the real local drama of the £2.2 Billion ‘Streets Ahead’ project and the 17,500 Sheffield trees being put to axe.
This riotous production collides violent comedy, anarchic choreography, and exuberant theatricality. Part gig, part theatre, part dance, this wild new work – created with a group of young Sheffield based artists – blasts a light on conspiracy, corruption, and the suppression of dissent.
