The ANARCHY (1138-53)

dark times

A medieval faire is being set-up: Welcome to the small, very fictional, market town of Cross Roads; under the guidance of Doppelgangster’s resident historian, an expert in the Civil War of England and Normandy, 1138-1153.

Then an arrow whizzes through the theatre. Performers are climbing a siege tower, attempting necromancy, crashing through castle walls, at least one of us will be medievally tortured, it’s, well, you heard the title.

Antitheatrical, historical folk-horror, pagan ritual, psychedelicexperimental.

If you like walking out of a show in frustration or disgust, physical fights, falling in chivalric love, then join the cult of Doppelgangster for The Anarchy 1138-53.

Trumpet sound! Galloping in on hobby horses and centaurs and the armory of that most endemic of modern folk events, It’s a show that’s been described by our own marketing copy as “a miraculous work about dark times, violence, and disorder.”
