The ANARCHY (1138-53): Part One

dark times

A duel is taking place. Your city is now the fictional medieval town of Crossroads. Experimental performance collective Doppelgangster invite audiences to select a character and face-off in two rough grandstands as Theatre Works transforms into a deadly jousting arena.

Arrows whiz through the theatre, actors climb a siege tower, crash through castle walls, and perform the dark art of necromancy.

This spectacular show is part anticomedy, part historical folk-horror, part psychedelic ritual, and impossibly a live RPG videogame walk-through guide.

If you like walking out of a show in frustration or disgust, physical fights, railing against the growing hypocritical chivalric culture, waving black banners, choosing Rogue, Mage, or Warrior, and drinking Elixir+1, then join the cult of Doppelgangster for The Anarchy 1138-53.

Trumpet sound! Galloping in on hobby horses and centaurs and the armory of that most endemic of modern folk events, It’s a show that’s been described by our own marketing copy as “a miraculous work about dark times, violence, and disorder.”

Death is certain.
