COLD WAR

LITTLE THEATRE, ADELAIDE

You know a show is going to be loud when they hand out ear-plugs to patrons in the queue for entry. There’s lots of noise, smoke, ice-cubes, and actions. Two characters survey the wreckage of the environment, threat of nuclear war, and pending climate change. An interesting minimal set, and oddly patterned black and white costumes for the two actors. They chat about stuff, then break into song. play with gadgets, and continue in such a manner. Unfortunately all the extras don’t help with the story. Singing into a microphone under a rubber mask doesn’t help with the vocals. And all the gimmicks are just a distraction in a small theatre. Yes we understand you’re angry about rampant capitalism, the eco-disaster, what are we going to do about it? That’s the question.
