On the streets, the stages, and the airways for COP21 – the UN climate talks. In association with Wales Arts International, Cape Farewell, ArtCOP21, PlaceToB, Forever Swarm, the Climate Change Commission for Wales, ArtsHouse, Tipping Point, La Generale, COPSolutionsExpo, Art for Change 21, and more; Doppelgangster and media, academics, artists, lawyers, politicians, and more joined together for performances, events, and interventions. Doppelgangster’s responsive programme took place throughout the city of Paris, with satellite events in both Australia, and Wales!

Duration of COP21
For Doppelgangster’s 2015 COP programming a Doppelgangster | COP21 Map was made available to see documentation of performances, learn about the interventions and participate in online conversations. The Map featured information on interviews, performances and events, attendances at rallies, protests, and parties, and reports on the city and company alike throughout the city of Paris, and satellite events in Melbourne, Cardiff and more!

What was COP21?
Climate change is an urgent concern for all of us. People across the globe need to move collectively towards a carbon neutral future by ending dependence on fossil fuels, destructive agriculture, and wasteful consumerism; instead seeking out greener, more sustainable alternatives. In 2015, the eyes of the world were on Paris and the 21st Conference of Parties (COP21, 30th Nov – 13th Dec): the supreme decision-making body for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. The question was: Would world leaders succeed in their negotiations and set us on course for a more sustainable future?
What was ArtCOP21?
ArtCOP21 (Sept – Dec 2015) was a global festival of cultural activity that began in advance of and ran parallel to the COP. It aimed to extend the climate debate beyond the confines of political offices and boardrooms and to connect it to citizens living across the globe. Through its wide reaching artistic programme the festival highlighted the need for corporations, governments, and the people to support climate action.
Doppelgangster at COP21
Doppelgangster is passionately committed to supporting this important work. Throughout November and December 2017 the Doppelgangster contributed to COAL & Julie’s Bicycle’s ArtCOP21, and Forever Swarm’s Creative Factory, in collaboration with international partners including MapMe, Experimentica and Tipping Point Australia, as it stages performances, disruptions, interviews and events – in France, Australia and the UK.
